10,000 steps, 10 000 steps a day

The average person takes about 3000 to 5000 steps a day.  We exercise much less than our ancestors did a hundred years ago and we tend to eat more refined foods. We also live a more sedentary life than people in the past. Many of us work at a computer as part of our jobs and want to relax in front of the TV in the evening rather than exercising.
